Fisher Cats 4th Straight Win
Best season start in Franchise history.
Hartford, CT - Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. and Cavan Biggio powered the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Double-A, Blue Jays) to their best start in franchise history on Sunday, slugging their first Eastern League home runs in a 4-2 'Cats win over the Hartford Yard Goats (Double-A, Rockies) at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
With the game tied at zero in the seventh, Biggio walloped a two-run shot to right field after a Max Pentecost walk. Connor Panas doubled two batters later and scored on Juan Kelly's single to right field that made it 3-0.
Guerrero's big fly came in the following frame. A two-out solo shot - on the first pitch of the at-bat - sailed well beyond the left field wall for the Fisher Cats' fourth and final run of the game.
Bo Bichette, son of Dante and the #13 prospect in all of baseball according to MLB.com, turned in his third consecutive multi-hit game, finishing two for four as the designated hitter for the Fisher Cats.
New Hampshire starter Sean Reid-Foley was superb in his season debut. The #10 Blue Jays prospect (MLB.com) allowed the first batter of the game to reach on a bunt single then no-hit the 'Goats for the rest of his outing. The right-hander walked three and struck out seven over six shutout frames.
Hartford got both of its runs in the bottom of the seventh when Omar Carrizales doubled home a pair with two outs.
Dusty Isaacs tossed two innings of relief and Andrew Case (S, 1) got the final four outs for his first save of the season.
The victory this afternoon completed a four-game sweep of the 'Goats by the 'Cats. It's the second time in as many seasons New Hampshire has swept Hartford in the first series of the year at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
New Hampshire heads to Trenton for the first of three games with the Thunder (Double-A, Yankees) at ARM & HAMMER Park. RHP Jon Harris will make his season debut for the Fisher Cats and RHP Erik Swanson (1-0, 0.00 ERA) is set to make his first start of the year.
