NH Fisher Cats Vs. Hartford Yard Goats on May 10, 2017.

'Cats Beat Yard Goats

NH avoids sweep with 4-3 triumph over Hartford in series finale.

Hartford, CT - Sean Reid-Foley turned in his best start of the season and Chris Rowley was electric out of the bullpen as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the Hartford Yard Goats 4-3 in the series finale at Dunkin' Donuts Park.

New Hampshire struck first in the third inning for their first lead of the series. Jonathan Davis singled with one out and advanced to third on a two-base throwing error from pitcher Sam Howard (L, 0-3) after an errant pick-off. Davis scored when Tim Lopes hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield that made it 1-0.

Harold Ramirez doubled the 'Cats lead in the fourth. The Cartagena, Colombia native launched his second home run of the season into the seats beyond the right field wall with one out, an opposite field solo homer that put the Fisher Cats up 2-0.

Hartford pushed one across in the bottom of the inning against Reid-Foley (W, 2-3), but the former second round pick and #2 Blue Jays prospect (MLB.com) was otherwise superb. He scattered three hits over five innings, didn't walk a batter and struck out a season-high seven.

Reliever Chris Rowley took over in the sixth and baffled the Yard Goats for three shutout innings. He struck out seven batters and gave up just one hit without a walk to bridge the gap following Reid-Foley's exit.

New Hampshire scored again in the seventh to go up 3-1. Back-to-back base hits from Emilio Guerrero and Gunnar Heidt put two on with nobody out, and Mike Reeves bunted both runners over to set up a sacrifice fly off the bat of Davis that scored Guerrero from third.

Reeves played a crucial role in plating the eventual game-winning run in the ninth. After the first two batters were retired, Heidt doubled down the right field line to put a man in scoring position. Up stepped the newly-minted Fisher Cats backstop, who singled to centerfield to plate Heidt and give the Fisher Cats a three-run advantage.

That score proved to be the difference in the game. Hartford plated a pair in the bottom of the ninth on a one out, two-run homer from Drew Weeks, but reliever Tim Mayza (S, 2) struck out the next two batters to secure the 4-3 triumph.

With the win, New Hampshire (11-21) ends a four-game losing streak and gets their first win in a one-run game this season.

The road trip continues Thursday night in Altoona, PA. Conner Greene (1-2, 3.57 ERA) will go for the Fisher Cats while Austin Coley (1-1, 3.47 ERA) will start for the Curve. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. and can be heard locally on AM 610 WGIR or online via iHeartRadio.

The Fisher Cats return to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Tuesday, May 16 to play Trenton.
