READING, PA - Cavan Biggio belted a three-run home run in the first inning to give the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) a lead they wouldn't relinquish as part of a 6-2 win over the Reading Fightin Phils (Pjillies) on Saturday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Biggio's big fly was set up by back-to-back two out singles from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - his only hit of the night - and Max Pentecost. The son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio cracked a 2-1 pitch deep to right field for his second homer of the year, putting the 'Cats up 3-0 after one.
Connor Panas added to the lead with a big fly of his own in the second. The Toronto, Ontario native hooked his first dinger of the season inside the right field foul pole to make it 4-0 New Hampshire through two.
Staked to an early lead, Sean Reid-Foley (W, 3-0) turned in his third consecutive quality start of the year. The right-hander and #10 Blue Jays prospect (MLB.com) allowed just one hit through five and went on to log six innings in which he allowed one run on three hits. He walked three and struck out three.
A two-run home run from Harold Ramirez - his first of the season - put the game out of reach in the sixth as the Fisher Cats went on to win 6-2.
Justin Shafer and Craig Breslow each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Bo Bichette was hitless in four trips with a walk. Juan Kelly recorded his second multi-hit effort of the season with a two for four performance.
The series concludes tomorrow afternoon in Baseballtown. #30 Blue Jays prospect (MLB.com) Jon Harris gets the nod for the Fisher Cats while LHP Ranger Suarez is set to start for the Fightin Phils. Coverage begins with the Fisher Cats Pregame Show at 1:45 p.m. and continues with first pitch at 2:15 p.m. on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
