Manchester, NH [May 7, 2018] - Top Toronto Blue Jay prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit two homers and drove in five runs and Cavan Biggio also went deep as the Fisher Cats handled rival Portland 10-2 on Monday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Sean Reid-Foley (5-0) struck out eight over five innings to earn the win. Nick Tepesch tossed three innings of scoreless relief for his first save.
On the day he was named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the second time this season, the 19-year old Guerrero Jr. hit his first home run at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in the first inning. The three-run shot staked the Fisher Cats to a 3-0 lead.
New Hampshire (18-9) tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Harold Ramirez walked and Connor Panas doubled. Ramirez scored on a single by Ryan Hissey and Panas came across on a wild pitch. Hissey would score on an error to make it 6-0.
Portland's (7-19) Conrad Gregor hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to make it 6-2.
Biggio led off the bottom of the fifth with his seventh home run to make it 7-2. With two outs in the sixth, Jonathan Davis doubled and Bo Bichette doubled him home.
Guerrero Jr. then launched a 3-2 fastball off the hotel in left center for his second homer of the game and fifth of the season.
Kevin McAvoy (0-1) took the loss for Portland. Boston Red Sox reliever Tyler Thornburg did work a scoreless frame in his rehabilitation assignment on Monday. He walked one and struck out one.
