Hartford, CT - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats spoiled a superb outing from starter Jon Harris, who allowed just one run in seven innings pitched but got the loss as the 'Cats fell 5-0 to the Hartford Yard Goats Monday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
A first inning run proved to be the eventual game winner. Omar Carrizales bunted for a base hit to begin the bottom of the frame and Ashley Graeter followed with another infield single. After a strikeout, Harris got Drew Weeks to hit into a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners with two outs. During the next at-bat, a delayed steal by the runner at first base drew a throw from the New Hampshire catcher and allowed the Carrizales to score from third to make it 1-0 Yard Goats.
A quartet of Hartford pitchers - headlined by starter Konner Wade - held the Fisher Cats scoreless the entire game and didn't allow a runner to reach third base.
The Yard Goats sent nine men to the plate in the eighth, plating four runs to pad their lead as they went on to win 5-0.
With the shutout loss, New Hampshire (10-20) has been blanked five times this year after being held scoreless in just seven games in all of 2016.
