Manchester, NH [July 3, 2017] The New Hampshire Fisher Cats jumped out to a 4-0 lead with some early firepower, but the Trenton Thunder would not be denied, improving to 10-0 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium with an 11-6 win on Monday night.
Fisher Cats starter Shane Dawson left the game in line for the win, as Richard Urena led off the sixth inning with a first-pitch homer to put New Hampshire ahead 6-5. From there, the Thunder scored six unanswered runs, including a five run-rally in the seventh inning with the help of three walks, four singles and an error.
Tim Lopes homered to right, his third of the year, to start the scoring in the second inning. All-Star catcher Danny Jansen made it a 3-0 lead with his first career triple, a line drive over the center fielder's head that plated a pair of runs. Jansen scored on a single by All-Star first baseman Ryan McBroom to make it a 4-0 advantage.
Trenton's Mike Ford hit his 10th homer of the year to bring Trenton within 4-1 in the fourth inning, but Derrick Loveless quickly responded with an RBI single in the bottom half to bring the lead back to 5-1.
The Thunder rallied again in the fifth inning to tie the score at 5-5, with a two-run double from Jorge Mateo leading the way. Urena's homer put the Fisher Cats back in front, but New Hampshire could not keep pace with Trenton's offense the rest of the way.
The Fisher Cats head to Portland on Tuesday to start a six-game road trip against the Sea Dogs and Thunder.
