Manchester, NH [May 18, 2017] Ryan McBroom blasted a home run for the second consecutive day, but his seventh of the season was not enough as Trenton completed a three-game sweep of the Fisher Cats with a 9-2 win at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Thursday.
McBroom's two run shot in the bottom of the sixth inning were the only runs allowed by Thunder starting pitcher Ronald Herrera (4-0). Herrera hit Jonathan Davis before ending his outing with the homer. He allowed four hits, walked one and struck out one.
Trenton (24-14) opened the scoring in the top of the third inning. Billy Fleming doubled off the center field wall, advanced to third on a groundout, and scored the game's first run on a sacrifice fly by Thairo Estrada.
The Thunder extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Billy McKinney homered and Zack Zehner singled, scoring on a double by Rashad Crawford.
Trenton hit two homers and added four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Greyber Torres hit a two run shot and Miguel Andujar added a solo homer. Zehner's RBI double ended the outing for Fisher Cats starter Jon Harris (1-4).
Jake Cave hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to extend Trenton's lead to 9-2.
Two New Hampshire (12-27) players made successful Double-A debuts. Catcher Michael De La Cruz had three singles in his debut and reliever Andrew Case worked 1.1 scoreless innings in relief. Kender Villegas added two scoreless innings with two strikeouts in relief for the Fisher Cats.
