Manchester, NH (7/07/16) - All-Star Rowdy Tellez matched a season-high with three hits, but the Fisher Cats could not complete a four-game sweep of Portland, falling 11-0 to the Sea Dogs on Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Portland RHP Keith Couch (6-4) pitched the complete game shutout. He allowed seven hits, three of them singles by Tellez. He did not walk a batter and struck out six.
Portland (31-55) scored twice in the top of the third inning. Rainel Rosario reached on a single and error and Tzu-Wei Lin bunted for a base hit and stole second. Mauricio Dubon plated both with a single for a 2-0 Sea Dogs lead.
The Sea Dogs broke the game open with eight runs in the top of the fifth inning, which featured a three-run homer by top Boston prospect Yoan Moncada (3-for-5, HR, 3 RBI). Catcher Jake Romanski also singled home two runs in the inning as Portland opened a 10-0 lead.
Andrew Benintendi singled and scored in the sixth inning to account for Portland's final run.
Conner Greene (1-1) took the loss for the Fisher Cats (39-47), allowing five runs in 4.1 IP in his second start of the season with New Hampshire.
