Richmond, VA - [June 15, 2017] The New Hampshire Fisher Cats completed their first sweep of the Richmond Flying Squirrels since 2011 Thursday night at The Diamond thanks to wins in both games of a doubleheader by final scores of 4-1 and 4-3, respectively.
In game one, New Hampshire scored in the first after Virginia native Ryan McBroom plated Jonathan Davis - who walked and stole second to begin the game - with an RBI single to right field.
Richmond answered with an unearned run in the second to tie the game, but Conner Greene (W, 3-5) managed to scatter five hits and four walks through six innings pitched to keep the Squirrels off the scoreboard.
The game remained tied until the seventh, when the Fisher Cats plated three runs on three hits - highlighted by a Davis two RBI single with the bases loaded - to take a 4-1 lead. Jose Fernandez (S, 4) tossed a perfect bottom of the inning to secure the victory.
In the nightcap, it was Davis who provided the heroics once more. After New Hampshire trailed 2-0 through one and 3-0 after five, the 'Cats put runners on the corners with one out for Andrew Guillotte in the seventh, who singled home McBroom to make it 3-1 Richmond. Alex Monsalve followed with an infield single to load the bases with one out, setting up Davis' clutch at-bat two batters later. With the two outs and the bases juiced, the Camden, Arkansas native ripped a bases-clearing double to left field that scored three and put New Hampshire up 4-3.
Andrew Case (S, 1) twirled a perfect ninth to secure his first Double-A save and complete the sweep for New Hampshire.
