Manchester, NH - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats extended their winning streak to four games with a doubleheader sweep of the Portland Sea Dogs on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, 5-2 and 3-2.
After a hitless first inning for both sides in the opener, Ryan McBroom led off with a single in the second, and Emilio Guerrero drove him in with a two-run homer to right field. Guerrero now has two homers in his last three games.
Nick Longhi cut the 2-0 lead in half with a solo shot to right center in the fourth, but the Fisher Cats answered in the bottom of the fifth.
Andrew Guillotte led off with a single to left, Derrick Loveless walked, and Tim Lopes made it 3-1 with a line drive RBI single over the shortstop. Lopes then stole second and scored on a Danny Jansen base knock. Ryan McBroom beat out a double play ball to plate another run, and it was 5-1 Fisher Cats.
In his Double-A debut, Gillette finished 3-for-3 with a double, stolen base and run scored.
Meanwhile, Fisher Cats starter Jon Harris (W, 2-4) put together one of his better starts this season, holding Portland to one run on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
Dusty Isaacs took over in the seventh to close things out, allowing a run on one hit with no walks and a strikeout.
Portland struck first in Game 2 against spot starter Kender Villegas with an RBI double from Mike Olt in the second inning. The Fisher Cats responded with a two-run homer by Jonathan Davis to make it 2-1 in the third.
Portland rallied to tie with a run-scoring fielder's choice in the seventh inning to force extras. In the first extra frame, Guerrero led off with a single and moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt from Derrick Loveless. J.C. Cardenas singled to left, and Jonathan Davis walked to load the bases. The next batter was Urena, who sent the game-winning sacrifice fly out to right field, giving the Fisher Cats a 3-2 win.
