Reading, PA [May 21, 2017] Chris Rowley worked 5.1 scoreless innings and the Fisher Cats ripped three homers and recorded a seasons-best 15 hits in a 9-1 win at Reading on Saturday night.
Rowley (1-1), making just his second start of the season, allowed three hits, walked one and struck out one batter to help snap the club's five game losing streak. It was his first Double-A win.
The Fisher Cats (13-28) put together four consecutive two-out hits in the top of the first inning. Danny Jansen singled and Ryan McBroom homered. Harold Ramirez singled and moved to second on a passed ball, scoring on a single by Richard Urena (3-for-5) for a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the second inning, Derek Loveless singled and stole second, scoring on a single by Jonathan Davis. Jansen's doubled plated Davis to make it 5-0 Fisher Cats.
Gunnar Heidt homered in a three-run eighth inning for New Hampshire and Emilio Guerrero homered in the ninth.
Reading (23-14) was kept off the board until the bottom of the ninth inning when Chace Numata, who had walked, scored on a single by Malquin Canelo.
Rowley was followed on the mound by Alonzo Gonzalez (1.2 IP), Andrew Case (1.0 IP) and Jose Fernandez. They combined to hold a strong Reading team to just six hits.
The series concludes on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. in Reading. RHP Sean Reid-Foley (2-3, 5.76) starts for the Fisher Cats against Reading RHP Tyler Viza (2-3, 6.75).
