Game 1
Conner Greene picked up his first win of the season and Ryan McBroom drilled a three-run homer as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats turned back Binghamton 4-2 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
The Rumble Ponies then took the nightcap 9-0 to earn a split of the twinbill with their southpaw starter P. J. Conlon tossing a complete game one-hitter. Conlon (3-1), allowed only a third inning single to Gunner Heidt. He struck out nine while walking one for Binghamton (15-10).
In the opener, Anthony Alford doubled home a run in the bottom of the third inning and McBroom ripped a three-run homer in the frame to account for all of New Hampshire's runs in the win.
Game 2
Conner Greene (1-2) pitched 6.2 innings to earn his first win of the season. He took a one-hit shutout to the final frame before yielding to Tim Mayza for the final out after the Mets scored two runs. Greene allowed four hits, walked two and struck out two. He set down 12 consecutive Rumble Ponies between the third and seventh innings. Mickey Jannis (3-1) took the loss.
After Chris Rowley tossed four shutout innings in a spot start in the nightcap, Binghamton plated four in the top of the fifth inning. Jio Mier drove in the first run with a single and Kevin Kaczmarski tripled in three to make it 4-0. Cody Decker homered in the top of the sixth inning and Kevin Taylor added a two-run single and David Thompson a sacrifice fly in the seventh to give the Rumble Ponies a 9-0 lead.
Alonzo Gonzalez (0-3) took the loss for New Hampshire (10-18).
