Fisher Cats Offense Keeps Rolling in 6-3 Win
Davis, Ramirez homer in the early going to give NH 6-0 cushion after three innings.
MANCHESTER, NH - With six runs in the first three innings, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats overpowered the Harrisburg Senators in a 6-3 win on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Jonathan Davis hit a three-run homer in the second inning, and Harold Ramirez hit a two-run blast in the third to lead the offense.
Blue Jays pitching prospect Conner Greene hit 100 mph on the radar gun several times in his first few innings, and struck out the side in the opening frame. He held Harrisburg without a run in the first four innings, and entered the fifth with a 6-0 lead. The Senators broke through with a two-run double from Raudy Reed and an RBI single by Alec Keller to cut the lead to 6-3 and chase Greene from the game after 4.2 frames.
Justin Shafer (W, 2-1) came on in relief, and retired all seven batters he faced with two strikeouts. Dusty Isaacs (H, 2) followed suit, striking out the side in a scoreless eighth inning.
Tim Mayza (S, 4) got the final three outs, the last one coming on a spectacular catch from Gunnar Heidt. With the tying run at the plate, Drew Ward skied a pop foul toward the third base seats. Heidt ranged over, and reached into the first row beyond the tarp to snag the game-winning out.
Ramirez finished 2-for-4. He started the scoring with a two-out RBI single in the first inning, and added a homer to Davis' blast to account for the six early runs. Andrew Guillotte added another pair of hits and a walk, and is now 9-for-20 during a five-game hitting streak.
The Fisher Cats homestand continues through Sunday, with Game 2 against the Senators (Washington Nationals Double-A affiliate) scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
