NH Fisher Cats Vs. Harrisburg
Fisher Cats Fall 4-1 to Senators.
Harrisburg, PA [June 1, 2017] A solo home run proved to be the difference Thursday night at FNB Field, as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell 1-0 to the Harrisburg Senators in the series finale.
'Cats starter Shane Dawson (L, 1-6) retired the first seven batters of the game before an error in the third put a man on for the Senators. The southpaw didn't allow a hit until Drew Ward singled with two outs in the fourth.
The Senators broke up the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth. Isaac Ballou took Dawson deep on the first pitch of the home half of the frame to give Harrisburg a 1-0 advantage.
Jeron Long (W, 5-4) impressed for Harrisburg. The right-hander tossed seven shutout innings and managed to work around five hits, three walks, a hit batsman and three wild pitches to earn the win.
Justin Shafer and John Stilson combined on three perfect innings of relief for the 'Cats, but the offense failed to put together a rally in a game where they stranded seven men on base and outhit the Senators five to two.
Despite the loss, New Hampshire leaves Harrisburg with the series victory and has won each of their last four series against Eastern League opponents.
The road trip continues Friday night in Hartford. Chris Rowley (2-1, 1.75 ERA) will go for the Fisher Cats and Ryan Castellani (4-4, 5.24 ERA) gets the nod for the Yard Goats.
