TRENTON, NJ [6/29/18] - Bo Bichette slugged his eighth home run of the year as part of a three-hit night, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) squandered a late opportunity and lost 7-6 in ten innings to the Thunder Pork Roll at ARM & HAMMER Park Friday night.
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, New Hampshire scratched one across to cut the Trenton lead in half. Bo Bichette doubled, Cavan Biggio walked and Harold Ramirez was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Max Pentecost plated a run with a sacrifice fly to right field, making it 2-1 Pork Roll through four.
The Pork Roll scored three in the fifth to take a four-run lead. They plated their runs with two hits - highlighted by an RBI double from Billy Fleming - a walk, a hit batsman and a sacrifice fly to go up 5-1.
Ramirez slugged his fourth home run of the year in the sixth - a two-out, two-run blast to right field that brought New Hampshire within two - and a Gunnar Heidt sac fly in the seventh made it 5-4.
After Trenton went up 6-4 with a run in the bottom of the seventh, Bichette's third hit of the game came in a big way. The #2 Blue Jays prospect launched a game-tying blast to left field in the eighth, bringing the 'Cats even with the Pork Roll at six runs apiece.
A missed opportunity for the Fisher Cats in the top of the tenth (the bases were loaded with one out but they failed to score) set up a game-winning infield single for Mandy Alvarez that came with runners at the corners and one out in the home half of the innings as the Pork Roll walked off 7-6 in ten stanzas.
The series continues tomorrow night at ARM & HAMMER Park. RHP Jordan Romano (8-3, 4.08 ERA) will go for the 'Cats while RHP Michael King (1-1, 2.37 ERA) is set to start for the Thunder. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. with the Fisher Cats Pregame Show then continues with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
