Manchester, NH - The Fisher Cats return to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium this week for six games on the shores of the Merrimack with - who else? - Vladimir Guerrero Jr. still captaining the circuit's top offense. The son of the soon-to-be Hall of Famer was named the Eastern League's May Player of the Month on Monday, making him the first Fisher Cat to earn that distinction since Gustavo Chacin in 2004.
His numbers certainly warranted the award. The 19-year-old led the league with a .438 average, nine home runs, 28 RBIs, 29 runs, a .480 OBP and a .768 slugging percentage in the month of May.
Cavan Biggio and Bo Bichette have also been mainstays in the 'Cats lineup. Biggio is batting above.300 and has remained on the league leaderboards in slugging percentage, extra base hits and more as his breakout 2018 continues, and Bichette - a wizard with the glove - has continued to mature at the dish.
21st overall pick T.J. Zeuch pitched a seven-inning complete game shutout in game two of a doubleheader in Binghamton on June 2 and has now won each of his last three decisions.
Those four players and the rest of the first-place 'Cats welcome the Akron RubberDucks (Indians) and Bowie Baysox (Orioles) to Manchester for their first and only visits this season.
