READING, PA - Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered in the same inning for the first time this season but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) couldn't complete a three-game sweep after falling 4-3 to the Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies) on Thursday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Trailing 3-0 to start the fifth, the Fisher Cats tied the game thanks to the pair of dingers from Bichette and Guerrero. Gunnar Heidt doubled to start the inning then scored when Bichette's second home run of the season cleared the left field wall. With the 'Cats down 3-2 later in the frame, Vlad Jr. lifted his ninth tater of the season to left centerfield, tying the game 3-3.
Reading didn't leave it tied for long, as they scored the go-ahead and eventual winning run in the bottom of the fifth to lead 4-3.
New Hampshire had runners on base in the seventh, eighth and ninth but failed to score as they lost by a single score.
Despite the loss, the 'Cats are still 10 games above .500 and in sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division.
Vlad Jr. and Bichette both finished the day with two hits.
The Fisher Cats return to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium Friday night to begin a four-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies). RHP Jon Harris will be opposed by LHP Jack Wynkoop with Atlas Fireworks after the game.
