Manchester, NH [5/31/18] - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) finished their homestand with six wins in eight games despite a 12-9 loss (in 10 innings) to the Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox Affiliate)on Thursday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Portland opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Jeremy Rivera singled to start the game, advanced to third on a single by Chad De La Guerrera, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Ockimey.
The Fisher Cats responded in the first inning to take a 4-1 lead. Bo Bichette led off with his fourth home run. After a double by Major League rehabber Aledmys Diaz, Vlad Guerrero Jr. singled and Cavan Biggio hit a sacrifice fly. Max Pentecost added a two-run homer to right field, his third of the season.
Bichette drove in another run in the bottom of the second inning, hitting a sacrifice fly after Gunnar Heidt tripled to give New Hampshire a 5-1 lead.
The Sea Dogs put together a couple of hits with two outs in the top of the fifth inning for a run to make it 5-2. Danny Mars singled and Rivera doubled him home.
The Fisher Cats added on from there. Diaz doubled for the second time in the game, scoring on Jonathan Davis' single for a run in the fifth. Gunnar Heidt doubled home Connor Panas, who had singled in the sixth to make it 7-2.
Portland scored five times in the top of the seventh inning to draw the Sea Dogs even. Rivera knocked in two runs with a single, Ockimey hit a sacrifice fly and Tate Matheny's two run double made it 7-7.
The Sea Dogs won the game with five runs in the top of the tenth inning. Josh Taylor (1-1) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief.
New Hampshire starter Jon Harris allowed two runs in 5.2 innings. He allowed six hits, walked one and struck out a season-high seven batters. Nick Hartman (1-1) took the loss in relief.
