Brookfield is located on Route 16, between Wolfeboro and Farmington. It has the flavor of a Lakes Region town, but is, in a sense, at the southern end of the White Mountain region.
Brookfield is the home of Kingswood Lake, a man-made lake that is drained to a lower level around Columbus Day. The lake is surrounded by vacation homes.
Dining and lodging are available in nearby Sanbornville (about 3 miles) and
Wolfeboro (about 11 miles).
As the town's website states:
"Driving through Brookfield, one becomes aware that no town center exists other than the old meeting house, the Town House on Wentworth Road, which stands as a solitary symbol of a town that time seems to have bypassed."
That's okay, we like it that way, too.
