Errol Lumberjack Competition Announced
3rd Annual Errol Heritage Day & Professional Lumberjack/Lumberjill Competition takes place on September 26th.
On September 26 professional lumberjacks from across the country will compete for cash prizes during the Professional Lumberjack/Lumberjill Competition to be held at the Errol Consolidated School Grounds on Main Street in Errol, NH.
According to Deb Freedman, Chairperson, Errol Heritage Commission, the event began as an effort to reconnect Errol to its historical roots. She also notes that it will be a "wonderful family day" for the hundreds of people expected to attend.
The day begins with a Pancake Breakfast from 6:30am-9:00am provided by the Errol Congregational Church. The breakfast will be served at Errol Fire Station on Main Street because the church has no restrooms. The Professional Lumberjack/Lumberjill Competition begins at 10:00am and runs until 4:00pm. Competition events include the axe throw, underhand chop, two-man crosscut, Jack and Jill crosscut, bow saw, single buck, springboard, open chainsaw and obstacle pole buck! Children will be delighted to know there are numerous games and activities planned especially for them including a Monster Truck Bounce House.
Acadian Seaplanes from Rangely, Maine will have a helicopter on hand for fall foliage flights, and participating vendors include crafts people, NH Fish & Game and the National Wildlife Refuge. There'll be a 50/50 Raffle and a Silent Auction and much more. The fun ends with a Spaghetti Supper at the Errol Fire Station from 4:30pm-6:30pm.
While the Errol Heritage Commission is the event host, Ms. Freedman reports that it's really a community wide event, sponsored by local businesses, landowners, and even private citizens.
Admission to the competition is free and so is the parking provided across the street by Bear County Powersports.
