Berlin, NH - A Gorham, NH man and a Milan, NH man were injured in a head-on collision while riding ATVs in Jericho State Park in Berlin, NH on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.

Douglas Thompson, 26, of Gorham, NH and Jacob Rex, 22, of Milan, NH were riding their ATVs in the opposite direction on the Connector Trail near its junction with the Pipeline Trail when the two collided.

A friend who was riding with Jacob Rex was first on the scene, and called for help. Rescue and medical personnel from Berlin Police Department, Berlin Fire Department, Berlin EMS and Fish Game responded to the call. Rescuers were able to drive to the scene of the crash.

Berlin EMS transported Douglas Thompson and Jacob Rex to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, NH. Both individuals were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The collision is under investigation at this time. It appears that failure to turn right and reduce speed with oncoming traffic was the leading cause of the crash
