ATV Collision in Sandown Injures Hampton Falls Man
SANDOWN, NH - 20 year-old John Rourke from Hampton Falls, NH sustained non-life threatening injuries in an All-Terrain Vehicle collision on Sunday June 11, 2017. He was operating his All-Terrain Vehicle on the Rockingham Recreational Trail in Sandown with his friend Christian Larosa, also from Hampton Falls, at about 1:43pm when the collision occurred. John Rourke was riding behind his friend Christian Larosa. When Larosa stopped in the trail, Rourke did not notice the stopped ATV, and crashed in to the back tire causing him to roll his ATV and injure himself.
Emergency personnel from Sandown Fire and Rescue and Trinity Ambulance responded to the scene along with Sandown Police. New Hampshire Conservation Officers were also notified. Rourke was transported from the scene to Parkland Medical Center in Derry for treatment of his injuries.
At this time New Hampshire Fish and Game is investigating the crash; but it appears that following too closely along with low visibility, due to dusty trails, contributed to the accident. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident. Neither operator was wearing a helmet or protective gear at the time accident.
