CONCORD, N.H. -- If you haven't submitted an application yet and want a chance to hunt moose in New Hampshire this fall, then you better get moving! The deadline for entering the New Hampshire moose hunt lottery is Friday, May 27, 2016. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department is proposing to offer permits to 71 lucky winners for New Hampshire's 2016 moose hunt, which runs from October 15-23. Last year's statewide hunter success rate for moose was 69%.
It's easy to enter. Visit
www.huntnh.com/hunting/moose-lottery.html to apply online or print out a mail-in application. You can also pick up a lottery application from any Fish and Game office or license agent. The entry fee is $15 for New Hampshire residents and $25 for nonresidents.
Applications to enter the lottery or to accrue a bonus point for 2016 must be postmarked or submitted online by midnight Eastern Time, May 27, or delivered to Fish and Game headquarters in Concord before 4 p.m. that day. Applications submitted by mail must be postmarked no later than midnight, May 27, 2016, to be eligible for the lottery or to accrue a bonus point only. If submitting a paper application by mail on May 27, take it to the post office and have it postmarked while you are there; just dropping it in a mailbox does not ensure that it will be postmarked by the deadline.
A word to the wise: apply online if you can; it greatly reduces the chance of leaving information off or making a mistake.
Don't wait until the very last minute.
Late or incomplete applications are not accepted.
Applicants can enter the moose hunt lottery only once each year.
A bonus point system improves the chances for unsuccessful applicants who apply each consecutive year. Don't miss a year, or you'll lose your points! Winners will be selected through a computerized random drawing to be held on Friday, June 17, 2016.
