CONCORD, NH -- Get excited for outdoor adventures this spring by attending a series of free outdoor adventure talks being offered by the NH Fish and Game Department in April. Unless otherwise specified, the talks will take place at Fish and Game headquarters, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH. No pre-registration is required. The talks start at 7 p.m. Admission is free (except film festival). Come and explore something new about wildlife and outdoor recreation!
April 6: Turkey Hunting Seminar, with Dave Priebe - Discover the time-honored tradition of spring turkey hunting in New Hampshire with a talk by avid sportsman Dave Priebe. As a certified NH Hunter Education Instructor and Quaker Boy Game Calls Pro staff member, Priebe draws on countless hours of experience to present the fundamentals of hunting spring gobblers. Come and learn about the basics of turkey hunting, turkey calling and turkey hunting safety.
April 7: Raptors of New Hampshire, with NH Audubon - See live birds of prey, like owls, peregrine falcon or red-tailed hawk. This talk is presented by Kevin Wall, Director of Education at N.H. Audubon. Learn about the adaptations that helped establish these raptors as some of New Hampshire's top predators. Raptors play a unique role in our ecosystem. At this entertaining presentation, you'll learn how NH Audubon assists in protecting raptors, and how you can help.
April 13: Reel Paddling Film Festival at Red River Theatres, Concord - Ride the rapids at the Reel Paddling Film Festival World Tour, coming to Red River Theatres in Concord, NH, on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. These adventure travel and documentary films share amazing outdoor scenery from around the world and focus on canoeing, kayaking, stand- up paddle boarding and kayak fishing. The event is co-hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, and Contoocook River Canoe Company, and is sponsored in part by paddle sport gear manufacturer Northwest River Supply. April 20: Trolling Tactics, with Scott Jackson - Here's your chance to learn about trolling techniques and strategies from an expert fishing guide! Scott Jackson of The Great North Woods Guides Service will lead the seminar. Jackson encourages people from all experience levels to come and learn about trolling speeds, depths and bait used by expert fishing guides. Learn what it takes to catch fish and understand fish feeding patterns like a professional. See the gear that's used, and bring your questions. Jackson has been fishing his entire life in Maine, New Hampshire and Alaska, where he was a bush pilot for ten years.
