Monroe is a small town located near Lyman on Route 135, near the Connecticut River. Route 135 is the main road,
but many folks would find it slow and winding.
Largely agricultural Monroe is home to
Pete & Gerry's
Organic Eggs. It's not all work though: it's also home to
Still Waters Run Deep Kayaking which offers kayaking, hiking and snowmobile tours, and the Monroe Bumper Humpers,
the town's local snowmobile club.
The
Harvest Festival raises funds for
local charities and the local fire department. There is a strong sense of community involvement in Monroe, and the
community's calendar is evidence of this.
Dining and lodging are available in
Littleton (about 19 miles),
or
Woodsville (about 12 miles).
