Conway Scenic Railroad

Located in the chic (and a bit commercial) village of North Conway, The Conway Scenic Railway runs south to Conway or north to Bartlett, near the historic and beautiful Bretton Woods Resort. There is also the route that crosses Crawford Notch, which is extended to a five-hour tour during the height of fall color.
While this is a Mecca for tourists during the fall foliage season, it is a wonderful scenic tour any time of year. The North Conway station is an appealing structure that has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since the late 1970s.
There is a certain enduring…well, alright, sometimes annoying practice of naming trains. (Think of Bridges of Madison County, but with wheels and steam.) The Dorothea Mae is the grand dame of the rails here, with her domed observation car. Hattie Evans is a vintage dining car that is currently being renovated.
Special events include a special series of rides for children with a Thomas the Stream Engine theme, and a Polar Express themed tour during the holidays.
This is a wonderful trip into yesteryear, with incredible scenery.
