LINCOLN, NH (March 19, 2014) - Thanks to abundant natural snowfall and 100 percent open terrain, Loon Mountain is gearing up for an epic spring of skiing and riding. The season will be especially sweet for those who purchase and prepay their
2014/15 New England Pass before the snow melts, as they will be able to use that pass for the rest of this season.
While spring is known for excellent snow conditions and killer season pass deals, it's also the time in the season when the events schedule really starts to heat up. A full
events schedule is available at
loonmtn.com, along with the latest conditions updates, photos and videos.
March 22 - Governor's Cup - Celebrating its 30th year, the famed Governor's Cup lets family and friends race each other in a fun but competitive setting. All proceeds from the race go to the Governor's Cup Ski Scholarship.
March 22 - Battle of the Bumps - Goggle tans and bump skiing
take center stage at the Battle of the Bumps mogul skiing competition. This head-to-head competition takes place right under the Gondola on Seven Brothers, making it a true spectator favorite.
March 23 - Cardboard Box Race - Spring doesn't truly arrive at Loon until otherwise rational adults race cardboard boxes down the mountain. Adults and children alike go all-out for this classic event, in which teams transform plain boxes into cardboard helicopters, pirate ships, and polar bears.
March 29-30 - Droppin' In - This two-day camp is a golden opportunity for women to take their park and pipe skills to the next level. Skiers and riders will work one-on-one with Oakley pro athletes, sharpen their skills in a private park, and even build their own Oakley goggles.
April 5 - '80s Day - For one day each year, neon dominates the slopes as we celebrate a decade of big hair and bold fashion choices. At the end of the day, skiers and riders strut over to the Bunyan Room in their rear-entry boots and enjoy live music from '80s cover band Fast Times.
April 5 - Neff Beach Bash - Greet spring in style with the Neff Beach Bash, a fun rail jam on Little Sister that may or may not involve a beach ball pit. Bring your shades, and enjoy the beach.
April 12 - Slushpool Party - There's no better way to
celebrate spring than trying - and failing - to skim a pond of ice cold water. This spectator-friendly event has been a spring fixture for decades here at Loon, with spectacular splashes that never fail to disappoint.
April 13 - Street Cred presented by Red Bull - Snowboarders compete on urban-style elements in this street-inspired rail jam where creativity, style and versatility earn points with the judges. Bragging rights and a cash purse go to the winner.
Skiers and snowboarders can take full advantage of these fun spring events by purchasing their
2014/15 New England Pass in full before the snow melts. By paying for their pass in full now, they can use that pass at Loon, Sugarloaf, or Sunday River for the rest of the season. Or, they can lock in the lowest pass rates with the Easy Pay Plan by making a $50 down payment by April 30 and paying the balance over the summer.
