Outdoor Adventure Talks at NH Fish and Game
CONCORD, NH -- Try a new outdoor adventure this spring! Free talks being offered by the NH Fish and Game Department in April will give you some great ideas. The talks (except film festival) take place at 7:00 p.m. at Fish and Game Headquarters, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH. Get inspired by the outdoor world!
April 5: Raptors of New Hampshire: See live birds of prey, like owls, peregrine falcon, or red-tailed hawk. Kevin Wall, Director of Education at NH Audubon. Learn about the adaptations that helped establish these raptors as some of New Hampshire’s top predators. Raptors play a unique role in our ecosystem. At this entertaining presentation, you’ll learn how NH Audubon assists in protecting raptors, and how you can help.
April 11: Butterfly Conservation in New Hampshire: Learn about the rare butterflies of New Hampshire that live in unique environments from the sandy pine barrens to the top of Mount Washington. N.H. Fish and Game biologists will discuss threats both rare and common butterflies face and opportunities for your help with conserving the 125+ species in our state. Take the opportunity to view early spring species that have emerged from their long winter’s nap.
April 18: Reel Paddling Film Festival at Red River Theatres, Concord. Ride the rapids at the Reel Paddling Film Festival World Tour, coming to Red River Theatres in Concord, NH. Co-hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, NH Fish and Game, and Contoocook River Canoe Company. Come enjoy some great films, meet other paddlers, and support the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. Tickets are $12 online at www.northernforestcanoetrail.org, or $15 at the door.
April 19: Turkey Hunting Seminar: Discover the time-honored tradition of spring turkey hunting in New Hampshire with a talk by the New Hampshire Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Learn the basics of turkey hunting, turkey calling, and turkey hunting safety. Everything you need to know to get your gobbler this spring!
April 26: Fishing for Striped Bass: New Hampshire Fishing Guide Tim Moore shares his strategies for fishing for stripers from a kayak, boat, or shore. "I love the fight a striper puts up,” says Moore. "And I’m excited to share my passion for striped bass fishing.”
